Windows 10?

Is our favourite P2P Windows 10 compatible?

Good question. I read something about the new Qt (5.5) having better Windows 10 compatibility, but I'm not sure if the client works on Windows 10 as is or whether it needs to be rebuilt. If anyone is having problems running the client on Windows 10 I'll put out a new build ASAP.

yes, is fully compatible, I'm using SoulseekQt on it since the first Build of Windows 10 and no issues.

Ok so I took the plunge and updated to windows 10 (from release) and I am experiencing a few bugs.

I am running windows 10 Pro 64 Bit (after upgrading from windows 7 ultimate)

So far the problems are these.

1. If I use the search feature it will lock up SoulSeek all together and I have to end the process from task manager.
2. It can be quite sluggish and get stuck when going through the tabs to different parts.
3. For some reason it has become a little hoggy of CPU and Memory as in ideling it seems to be nearly 200mb used in ram and somewhere between 20-40% cpu usage as seen in this snap shot.

Not sure why as I was offline so it should not have really been making an impact like that.

I am running the following.

Microsoft Windows 10 (build 10240), 64-bit
AMD FX(tm)-6300 Six-Core Processor (3.5 ghz)
GeForce GTX 750 Ti
8gb DDR 3 Ram

Apart from the 3 problems mentioned above all works well it's a shame but I am certain you will be able to squash these bugs in a future release :D

I've been running slskqt under W10 for 3 months without a problem

Yes, I have the same problems as Gazra have

Microsoft Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit
Intel Core I5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz
GeForce GTX 750 Ti
16gb DDR 3 Ram

Try this build, it's with the new Qt 5.5 which is supposed to have better Windows 10 compatibility:

If that doesn't work I'm eyeing moving to a different installer from NSIS such as Inno or Microsoft Installer.

Hello,
I've been having the same issues with W10 since I upgraded from W7 on 8/1/15. After launching the program it freezes after about 30 seconds or so regardless of what part of the program I am in. I've tried downloading and installing the latest version and older versions. Added total exceptions is AVG for all components of the program and even tried running it under Windows 7 and Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. No luck. Any other thought or suggestions on how to make the best file sharing program in the world work on W10?

As far as I know there's no having AVG on your PC without it interfering with SoulseekQt... sorry.

Just wanted to let you know that uninstalling AVG 100% solved the problem. Soulseek now works perfectly. I've installed AVAST antivirus instead and have no issues.
Thanks for your help and time.

Great! Happy to hear.

I've noticed this bug. When I leave slsk for the night. I get closed ports by the morning. How can I fix this? I have to restart slsk so ports can be open again. I didn't have this problem with windows 7.

For Windows 10 users, it would be a good idea to make the default window background colour white instead of light grey, so that Soulseek feels more native.

Hi,
It may have nothing to do with Windows 10 as i had no problems so far with the older 2014 client. Although I updated because i didnt want my single track downloads being input into folders first which the latest build does (thanks for that =)) )
Problem im having is when a search for anything, nothing comes up.. even big commercial stuff to test and not a thing.

I installed the build on top of the existing slskqt to keep my settings, could be cause maybe? I used to have problem with searching with the old client YEARS ago, but up till now the search has been fantastic.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

N

Same here. Searching for some nationwide 2003-2015 known artists and some don't even have any hit. Problem started after installing W10.
As my main input for my collection it's hard no notice :(

Waiting for some help, willing to test further releases!

problem solved with no intervention... maybe needed some buildup after new install?
did not transfer my settings...

Hey guys, was wondering if a new build is coming soon? My soulseek keeps freezing and can't use it on Win 10 :(

try do a clean install of Windows 10, because for me is working 100% fine in Windows 10, even in the new Windows Insider Preview Build 10532.

Well, been running Windows 10 for several days. Everything working fine.
This is using an x64 build, upgraded from Windows 7 x64, if that helps anyone?

I'm having problems as well. Downloads freeze up after a few seconds, then the downloads are painfully slow. Sometimes Soulseek freezes up entirely for a minute or so. Searches seem to work fine. Tried builds 6.8 (I think), 6.12 and 5.5.

The old Soulseek NS works for me, though.

They are often far slower than my internet connection, especially here at my office, which is a small enough business with a heterogeneous enough set of Windows versions (and not every machine is Windows, certainly the servers mostly aren’t) that it doesn’t make enough sense to try and run the enterprise-style central update setup, but big enough that there are often cases where the machines are duplicating the downloaded updates. As the admin of these systems, as long as Microsoft’s update signing is decent so that this doesn’t present any practical security risk, and it doesn’t make the (already annoyingly buggy, although I swear much better in Windows 8+) Windows Update process jankier, I think this is a pretty great idea.
