Soulseek constantly crashing without warning.

Just started using soulseek again after almost a 10 year absence. Very disappointed, never had a problem back in the day with my old crappy high school computer. Now..with my $1400 computer, soulseek (QT 2015.2.21) will only run for about 10-15 minutes and then crashes without warning. It tends to crash more I find if I have multiple searches going, or if I am browsing chrome at the same time, or sometimes it really just doesn't like a random mp3. When it crashes, it will not allow you to open soulseek again, you need to either restart you computer or ctrl alt dlte, start task manager and go in and end the .exe process yourself then try again. Anyone have any idea if there is something I can do from my end to help fix this?

Only sharing around 1Gb of data presently, using Windows 7 Pro 64bit, Build 2015.2.21

How do you know it's crashing? What kind of error message are you getting?

Sorry I use my computer terms very loosely, I am not fantastic with this sort of thing. I do not know that it is actually crashing, i am really only assuming. Have you encountered this issue before?

Some users complain that the application disappears if the tray icon goes into the hidden part of the tray after a while. Maybe that's what's happening to you?

Try ALT-TAB perhaps. This might reveal whether Soulseek is still running or not.

I'm having the same problem. I had the old version of SoulSeek on and old computer that died and just yesterday I installed it on a different computer. I'm running Windows 7, 64 bit, Build 2015.2.21.

It runs for a few minutes and it seems like if I navigate away from SoulSeek it disappears. ALT-TAB doesn't show it. Task Manager doesn't show it. It won't open again until I restart my computer. It seems to be working, as it still downloaded a few files, but I can't access it or see any evidence that it's active.

Try going to Options->UI and uncheck 'show tray icon', this will make sure SoulseekQt will remain in the taskbar even if it's minimized. If it still disappears, there's something else going on.

That seems to have worked. Thank you.

Oh good. This seems to be a problem for a lot of people, I'll change it so that the option is unchecked by default.
