Login Failure

I keep getting the following message whenever I try to log onto Soulseek:
IP: _________Port: ________/tcp CLOSED. Your router and/or Soulseek client needs to be configured correctly.

You may want to check this list of port forwarding guides for instructions specific to your router model.

Don't forget that you need to restart your client if you modify your listening port.

I'm slightly illiterate in this field and could use some help understanding and rectifying the issue.

Depending on how much privacy you prefer, you really should consider not sharing your true IP with the entire web by posting it here :)

But, for closed ports, try either selecting "Use UPnP port mapping" and/or choose a higher port perhaps. That may help.

Thank you for the heads up, like I said, I'm quite internet/computer illiterate. I will give your recommendations a try. Also, when ever I try to initially open Soulseek, I get a notice stating that there is a socket error and that I need to change my login settings. Which settings do I need to change and how do I go about doing it? Thanks again for the assistance.

I think I'm connected, but nothing shows up when I manually search.

Likely a NAT error (port conflict) or also possible though not super likely, an ISP block of some sorts.

"Login failed. Reported failure reason: socket error. Please change your login settings in the Options tab and try reconnecting."

Windows 7, SLSK Build 2014.6.15, checked firewall port is opened router is configured, got a "IP: *.*.*.* Port: 53255/tcp open." from your test web site.

Is it because I have another user (my girlfriend) on my computer that may sometime download at the same time ?

Waiting for your update

Thanks

I have a similar problem. Just downloaded Build 2014.6.15 and it is not working for me. I even tried change of password but nothing happening. How do I change "login settings"?

Heya,
I had the same thing when i tried to use slsk for the first time on my new win h8 laptop, to fix it i went into
control panel > security settings > windows firewall > allow an app or program through windows firewall (located top of list on left hand panel) > Change settings (admin required) > check slsk option for public access
Im no expert by any means so if this doesnt work for you im all out of ideas, but i hope it does :)
