speed download

I have broadband 6 Mb. What speed sould I register for downloads and uploads? (lower left corner of the transfer tab)
Sorry for my poor english!

You could visit speedtest.net and get some numbers, or you could just start by entering 0 for both, so it will just run at max speed.

6 Mbps is 768 KB/s, so that's probably as high as your download speed can go. If this is residential service, your upload speed is probably slower, maybe something like 120 KB/s.

When I had DSL, I got much better performance in both directions if I ran it with the upload speed capped at about 90% of its maximum. With cable it hasn't mattered as much, but it does help to leave a little room for your web browsing, traffic, etc.

Just experiment... you will figure out what works best for you. Choosing the right number of upload slots tends to be the most important factor for me. Sometimes it is more art than science.

Thank you! I will test as you say.

6Mbps is 6000 Kbps. 768KB/s isn't even close.

6Mbps equates to exactly 768KB/s -

6(Mbps) * 1024 = 6144bits

6144 รท 8 = 768KB

thanks for your help!

Johnny are you saying that a cheapo DSL connection package offering 768Kps is actually giving the customer 6MB/sec? Seriously?

Consider a simple scenario. 6Mbps down / 768Kps up is a normal DSL package so you're saying the download speed is actually 6MB and not 768k? Because 6 = 768? You lost me.

Thank you! I'm trying to accommodate. This technical issue is beyond me sometimes. Thanks to Soulseek and all users!
Muchas Gracias!
